Big Media has a serious problem, one which it seems wholly ill-equipped to deal with. From both the Right and Left, major media outlets are under assault concerning the perception, and in some cases the reality of journalistic bias. For the most part, this is unchartered water for Big Media.
While charges of bias have long been leveled, the pace and intensity of recent allegations indicate that public cynicism about media objectivity runs wide and deep. Add in the latest source of needling newswatchers — power bloggers — and you begin the understand the media’s bunker mentality in places like New York and Washington D.C.
